How to play Hand and Foot in 60 seconds

  1. Each player gets two piles of cards: a hand to play first and a foot to play once the hand runs out.
  2. On your turn draw two cards from the stock (or take the pile with two natural cards matching its top card), meld, then discard one card.
  3. Meld three or more cards of one rank. Twos and jokers are wild. Seven cards make a book: clean (no wild cards) or dirty.
  4. Each round your first meld needs more points: 50, 90, 120, then 150 in the classic rules.
  5. Go out when your side has the books it needs and you are playing from your foot. Books and melded cards score for you; cards left in hand and foot count against you.

Questions people ask

Can I play the Hand and Foot card game online free?

Yes. No sign-up, no downloads, no timers. Your game is saved on this device, so you can come back to it tomorrow.

Can I use my family's house rules?

Yes. In Settings pick Classic, Simple or Custom. Custom lets you set the hand size, the number of rounds and their minimums, the books needed to go out, wild cards per meld, red and black three values, how much of the pile you take and what books are worth.

Can I play with a partner?

Yes. Choose 4 players: you and a computer partner against two computer opponents, like at the kitchen table.

Why can't I take the discard pile?

In Hand and Foot the pile is always frozen: you need two natural cards from your hand that match the top card. The game says what you are missing.

Can I take back a move?

Yes. Undo has no limit. Hint suggests a move and says why.
