How to fill in a Yahtzee score card
- Write each player’s name and the date at the top. Each column is one game.
- On your turn, roll up to three times. Keep any dice you like between rolls.
- After your last roll, pick one empty box and write the score there. If nothing fits, write a 0 in a box you can spare.
- Every box is used once, so each game is 13 turns.
- At the end, add Ones to Sixes for the total score. If it is 63 or more, write 35 in Bonus. Add them for the total of the upper section.
- Add the lower boxes and 100 for each Yahtzee bonus check. Add both sections for the grand total. Highest grand total wins.
Scoring at a glance
| Box | What you need | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Ones to Sixes | Any dice. Count only the matching number. | Total of those dice (e.g. three 4s = 12) |
| Upper bonus | Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more | 35 |
| 3 of a kind | At least three dice the same | Total of all five dice |
| 4 of a kind | At least four dice the same | Total of all five dice |
| Full house | Three of one number and two of another | 25 |
| Small straight | Four in a row: 1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-5 or 3-4-5-6 | 30 |
| Large straight | Five in a row: 1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6 | 40 |
| Yahtzee | All five dice the same | 50 |
| Chance | Anything | Total of all five dice |
| Yahtzee bonus | Each extra Yahtzee, if the Yahtzee box has 50 | 100 each |
The two bonuses: 35 and 100
Upper bonus. If Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more, add 35. That is three of each number (3 + 6 + 9 + 12 + 15 + 18 = 63). The scorekeeper shows how many points you still need.
Yahtzee bonus. Once you have 50 in the Yahtzee box, every extra Yahtzee earns 100 more, with no limit. You still have to use that roll in a box (the Joker rule):
- If the matching upper box is empty (Fours for five 4s), you must score it there.
- If that box is used, score it in any empty lower box at full value: a Full house is 25, a Small straight 30 and a Large straight 40.
- If the lower section is full too, write a 0 in any empty upper box.
If your Yahtzee box has a 0, an extra Yahtzee earns no bonus, but the Joker rule above still applies.

Questions people ask
How do you fill in a Yahtzee score card?
After each turn, write your score in one empty box of your choice, or a 0 if the dice do not fit any box you want to use. Every box is used exactly once, so a game is 13 turns. At the end, add the upper section, add 35 if it reaches 63 or more, add the lower section and any Yahtzee bonuses, and write the grand total.
What is the 35-point bonus on a Yahtzee score card?
If the six upper boxes (Ones to Sixes) add up to 63 or more, you get 35 extra points. 63 is what you get with three of each number: 3 + 6 + 9 + 12 + 15 + 18. Four of a high number can make up for a short low box.
How many Yahtzee bonuses can you get?
There is no limit. Each extra Yahtzee after you have scored 50 in the Yahtzee box earns a 100-point bonus: put a check mark in the Yahtzee bonus row for each one. If your Yahtzee box has a 0, extra Yahtzees earn no bonus, but you still use the roll in another box.
Can I print the Yahtzee score card on A4 paper?
Yes. The sheet is made for US Letter, portrait, and it fits A4 as well. If your printer cuts off an edge, choose "Fit to page" or "Scale to fit" in the print window. Black ink only.
Does the online Yahtzee scorekeeper need the internet?
No. Once this page has loaded, the scorekeeper works without a connection. Your scores are saved on this phone or tablet as you go, so you can close the page and come back to the same game. Nothing is sent anywhere.
What goes in the Chance box?
Any five dice at all. Add up all five dice and write the total. Chance is a safe place for a poor roll late in the game, when nothing else fits.
